Student selling snacks in the classroom

There was a student who was suspended when I was in grade school. I think we were in grade 4 when that incident happened. Our teacher caught a classmate selling snack items inside the classroom. The teacher reprimanded her but on the second time she was caught the teacher reported her to the principal that caused the suspension. The parents appealed and the school relented. I think that is a petty violation because selling is one way of encouraging the children in learning the value of money.

I have encountered some of my classmates before when I was in my elementary and high school days who are selling some snacks inside the classroom but only when the classes is not yet starting. So far my classmates were not suspended of doing it because they are doing it at the right way and at the right time.

I think it is just okay as long as it is done at the right time, for example during recess or break. It could at least help students who are financially challenged to earn something that could sustain his/her schooling. But of course should be done at the right time and that it should not interfere with the classes.

It is good for the student to sell snacks inside the classroom because it helps them gain profit and use that profit to buy something they want. But that teacher is so rude for suspending a kid for doing something good. Kids should be allowed to try to experience being an entrepreneur not restrict their freedom of doing something they want that does not cause any ill effects toward his/her fellow classmates.

Here in our country, students selling in classes is mandatory activity, this is part of their home economics subject wherein they will cook their own products and sell it on classrooms. This is a food idea in order to teach students a good lesson on how hard it is for workers to earn money and also teach them that they should be grateful for the foods they are eating as this is a product of dedication and hard work. However this activity shouldn't disturb classrooms who are busy in schedule.

As a student and being young, He has already the mentality of a business man and entrepreneur which is a good start for him. I think the school or teacher personnel is a bit strict and harsh on the student selling snacks but it is understandable since maybe they are restrict because the canteen is the only establishment that could sell food items and by him doing that it threats the business of the school cafeteria which is why he got suspended.

I agree with you that there is nothing wrong in selling goods in classroom as long as it will not disturbed classes. It should be done on breaks or free time. It's a good way to teach a child to earn and learn the value of money. He will be discipline and have sense of responsibility. But sometimes it also has a negative effect on a child personality. He might love the idea of having money than going to school. I've known some students who stop from school because they said there is no money in school. They just want to work and money is everything.

I think that is a liability to the school. Who knows where those snacks came from or how old they are. Those snacks could make other students sick. I don't think it is a good idea.

I think there is a negative and positive effect in a child's personality especially when they're involved on earning money at a younger age. They get to develop their sense of responsibility and discipline in handling money matters. This will teach them to be independent and value of hard work. But in some instance this will also change the mindset of students to work and stop their study. I've known some pupils who just want to work because they think that education doesn't give them money.

I really believe selling in classroom is a great way for students to train themselves in earning money. After all, this is hard earned money and done honestly. I also remember a schoolmate before who sold cheese sticks to fellow schoolmates so that he would have pocket money to school everyday since they were poor. As long as it does not get in the way of a student's studies, I really do believe there is no harm in such activity.

This teaches students to be entrepreneurs and manage their own businesses because a lot of the skills it takes to do it here will apply later in their careers. So its a no big deal in fact it can also help those students who are in need of extra allowances for themselves.

Students selling snacks in the classroom: I also experience it before in my high school, I bring some snacks in school and sell it in school but only in our snack time or during break and luckily I didn't even encountered to be reported into the principal office. It was a little kind of help to yourself and to your family as well but be sure your doing it in a right way.

Hi,
Student selling items inside the school is prohibited mostly on the school hour. But what is the teacher is the seller? Is this also prohibited? Sounds unfair. On the other hand selling occasionally should be allowable most specially if that student is looking for some source of income to have him in school regularly. That sounds good to me due to he/she may be a business man someday.
Thank you.
