All Ages Virtual Museum Tours - Interactive Teaching

Organizing a trip to the museum with your students can be logistically hard and expensive. But it's something that needs to be done in order to awaken the interest for history and keep learning fresh, not bland and textbook only. So I was thinking that a great alternative would be to set up a projector and take some virtual tours of museums. Most of the big ones, like Louvre for example, have great panoramas on their websites. This way, in my opinion, history learning becomes interesting and keeps pace with this technologically oriented future.

What do you guys think?
 
I think that it's a good idea but it should substitute it completely. It just means that the students can visit more museums. It's very important for students still go to physical museums so that they can get to see the objects and places they have studied at school. If there is one thing that most students remember for the rest of their lives is school outings.
 
I think the use of virtual museums to catch student's attention and curiosity with history and facts is a good idea specially for areas which are just too far and expensive for a simple educational trip to reach. I would still encourage physical trips to museums which are easily accessible through simple bus trips. Nothing beats the actual experience of physically entering a museum and looking at all the historical things inside it with your own eyes. :-)

I agree when multimedia CDs and DVDs came onto the market there were a whole lot of museums that created guided tours through this medium, but they no longer are easy to find.
