Monetary prizes for honor students

I'm not really sure this is a great idea. A cash prize to honor students would result to competition among students in order to get that money. Instead of going to school to foster learning, either from the teacher's discussions or from fellow classmates, everyone would end up thinking of each other as rivals and competitors. This would not foster a great environment and might encourage students to get higher IQ but lower EQ.

Everyone deserves a prize at the end of the year not only honor students but also to the normal students who worked hard enough to reach the honor students
