Meditation and Learning

I have been using a certain kind of meditation technique while I was in high school and college. It is a simple breathing meditation where you just breathe deeper while thinking about the things you want to learn. Then use the time to imagine what you are learning while you meditate.

It worked for me and got me through college even if I had to use it to cram. I taught this to my brother and every time I teach my brother, his scores improved. I think there is merit in examining meditation in the classroom?

I think meditation would be a great asset for relieving testing anxiety. In today's time, students need to learn to relax and relieve their stress. Mediation is a soothing activity that we all could benefit from when in class.

Radix24, could you give an example of this technique? I am a college student majoring in Computer Information Systems, and finals are in about two weeks so I need all the help I can get. I personally try to meditate at least twice a day, but it usually comes out as 3 times a week. I am working on becoming more disciplined with it because when I do meditate, I feel so much better, confident, and settled. Meditation should definitely be mentioned in schools to students especially because of the high stress levels many students face.

Some studies have found that meditation is helpful especially if you do it regularly. Meditating on a regular basis can have an effect even hours or days after meditating. It is particularly useful for people with ADHD. You can search for ideas under mindfulness. Some activities besides mediation that can be helpful are ballet, yoga, and martial arts.

I think meditating before studying is a good strategy for being able to acquire, and retain new knowledge effectively. It would help you be more focused on attaining new information.

A thing that is not taught to students even though is very essential is breathing. I think we must learn from the monks on how they breath and then how to meditate. It is all about focus and in these times of multitasking and distractions, it will really help the future generations to be more productive. Meditation can also be a big help for them to have a clear mind preventing to have suicidal tendencies when growing up.
