How to Get Over a Bad Day?

To overcome a bad day it is very important to ignore the fact that the day has been bad (I know it is difficult). Like many have said here, it would benefit by being alone.

During this time of solitude I generally think of the good days I have had in the past. I also go for a walk in the park and observe the kids playing there. There are very few things that can cheer you up better than children having fun.
 
Instead of trying to be alone, I try to surround myself with people that I feel good around, unless they were the source of my bad day. I feel that when I collapse into myself and prefer to be alone after something bad happens, it just gets worse. Good vibes and a laugh are normally what I need to look on the bright side after a crappy day.

True. I agree that it is sometime better to surround ourselves with people who make us feel good. The reason I get away from everyone seeking solitude is that I get a little hot headed when I am upset. I do not want to say anything that I don't mean when I am in such a mood.

Yeah, I completely understand that. There are many types of upset and many types of bad days, I think you just have to find out which one you are and react differently to each kind of situation. I understand that sometimes you can get angry and just not want to talk to anybody, and in that situation I'd do the same as you. I'm no saint, I get angry and lash out sometimes aswell, so you just have to be dynamic really.
 
Everybody knows what is a bad day. But our actions at those days may differ. Some of us like to complain, some of us know what to do in the bad situations. So this second part of people has their own methods how to get over those bad days.

Usually to get over a bad day, I treat myself in some way. Whether it be treating myself to new technology or a new film. You could also try and put the days events into lyric form.
 
Just like what other posters have already mentioned, whenever I would have a bad day, I would just prefer being alone, and do reflect on the situation. Everyone needs a little time, and space for themselves to heal.

Whеn I'm hаving а bаd dаy, thе first kеy is tо pаusе tо nоtiсе hоw I аm fееling. Is it аngry? Sаd? Lоnеly?
I tаkе а fеw dееp brеаthеs tо соnnесt tо dеfinе my еmоtiоns mоrе сlеаrly. оnсе I'vе dеfinеd thе еmоtiоn, I simply аsk, "why аm I fееling X?"
I thеn dо thе оppоsitе оf соnvеntiоnаl wisdоm, аnd аvоid "sеаrсhing" fоr thе аnswеr. I'm just fосusеd оn intеntly аsking, "why".
 
Try to practice being grateful for everything even on the things you think are small. Waking up for example and having a food on the table or being with your loved ones, these might seem normal to you but these are the things being overlooked. Having a grateful heart will change your outlook in life, whether it is a good day or a bad day, their is something to be grateful for. I also believe that bad days makes us really appreciate the good ones.

I believe if you can think of many things to be grateful for everyday, you will only have good days, great days and best days.
 
Well for me, just as simple as breathing will do. Just take a really slow breath, count it out. 5 seconds in, hold for 2, and 5 seconds out. Just get in this present moment. Just be here right now, in this very moment, everything is ok. Look around yourself and just be present.
 
I kind of simple shrug it off. The more I think about it, the more I get stress. Letting go of things that I can't do about is my antidote to stress. I just make the most of my day for things I can still work on.

Listen to a music that boost your mood, then start to think something that gives you motivation in life, specially the motivation for you to keep forward, and lastly don't forget to smile because through smiling you are saving others to get over their bad day. Smiling even if it is hard is a very big help to get over a bad day. And also find someone that you can talk to, that you'll know can understand you.
 
One advice I found helpful about overcoming a bad day is the advice to always remember that it is a bad day and not a bad life.

When our day turn out bad, we often let emotion crowd our thinking, getting us into subconsciously believing it's not a problem with the day, but a problem with us, or our lives.

The very first step to overcoming a bad day is a mindset shift.

It will help us to know also that everything depends on the interpretation we give them.
