Heavy school bag

I think these days it's not so much the same with students having to carry heavy books, since there are more and more online resources being used. It's certainly a helpful benefit of the move to more electronic resources - I remember back even when I was at high school that it was tough lugging home several large textbooks in order to complete my homework!

I think text books have gone heavier these days that they were when I was a student. That's because the paper quality of the text books has greatly improved. In our time, out text books used to be printed in a low quality papers and there were no color images. However, these days text books are printed on good papers. Text books are also thicker thn they used to be in the past. However, rules have chaanged and kids no longer have to carry all text books to school.

I think it is not only the thicker paper of the books that was changed but also the contents. Textbooks are now having more contents which means more pages. But I guess printed textbooks will be obsolete in the years to come. They will give way to the digital form of books that will be available to access in gadgets. Students can use their phone or tablet to read the lesson and no more heavy books to carry.

Heavybag is too heavy for that kind of an age group, most of the work they do requires a lot of food and strains the brain, a child will feel weak most of their time in class but some may not show because they may be afraid of a punishment from the teacher.
Concentration becames low during class, a child of the above mentioned age may not put much effort towards class work.

When I studied in our public school, I did not experience burdened by heavy school bags. It is because all our books are in the school already. The books are distributed to us students when we are to use them. After using the books we return it to the shelf. We don't carry even a single book at home. That is why we are not burdened to carry those books.

Well, it depends. Generally, students from grade 1-7 should not be allowed to carry heavy bags. Also, this is said to create back problems due to the heavy weights that the students are carrying in their bags. It would be good if some of the books are allowed to be stored in the classrooms itself so that the burden on the young kids will be reduced.

Schools in my country still require children to carry all the books for the courses they have that day. My kids carry school bags which are too heavy sometimes even for me. This is dangerous for their spine and completely unnecessary. Perhaps teachers should tell them what they need for each next class or leave things they don't need in their lockers.

IT is unhealthy for a child to lift heavy bags full of books and other school materials. In this day and age where internet is accessible , schools should adopt learning management technology so that pupils / students can accomplish assignments at home or anywhere. If LMS is beyond the school's and parents' budget , textbook authors and publishers could design worktext instead in which an assignment page can be taken home instead of the whole book.

Absolutely unnecessary for children to be burdened by carrying heavy books to school. When I was young, we had to carry a lot of books to school everyday and still carry them back home. Whenever I reflect on it, I cannot imagine with the advances we have now, this practice continuing. Schools should formulate ways in which books are readily available to students when they attend classes. Further, countries that have are relatively developed, should aspire to have schools all over connected to the internet.
[DOUBLEPOST=1549801974][/DOUBLEPOST]When I was in school, I had to carry at least 8 textbooks and 8 note books every day. We has 8 classes of 40 minutes each and we were supposed to carry 8 textbooks and 8 notebooks for 8 classes. Sometimes when the teachers did not see us with our own textbook we were sent outside the class. I still do not know why teachers were doing such things in those days.

I'm thankful that there are provided lockers nowadays for students as well as computer rooms where they can access the internet for research in school. Students no longer need to borrow reference books from the library that adds to their already heavy bags.
