Do you agree that teaching children by giving them an activity like games is effective?

I have a lot of co-teachers here in our school that giving grade-school students games is very effective. Well, everybody loves games but I don't get why it is a very effective way in teaching children. Do you agree? Can you give me tips? Thanks :)

I think yes, because its enhance their knowledge and creativity but there a game that can cause addiction, Ithink you should give them some educational game like math genius or supersonic this is the game that can help your student knowledge and also develop theircreativity in life.

I think that it is quite effective. Kids love playing games. I read some studies about this and I agree with what studies have say. They say that it is really effective because the stress levels of the kids are reduced when they are learning something by playing some games. So yes, it should be included in all schools.

Learning should be in a fun way also, and the best way to do it is through games. By this, students will enhance their attention span and eagerness and avoid boredom and other distractions.

Games are good ways to teach children because children tend to be more involved when they are having fun and they remember based on the feeling of happiness they felt when dealing with that subject. I believe incorporating different methods to teach children is best because their attention wanders when confronted with monotony.

What kind of games, though? I think you can evaluate their performance based on a preset goal, but I wouldn't divulge it so they don't feel pressures to accomplish it. What I have in mind it's more like recreative practice, giving students a time to relax while the teacher observes.

Now, for recreative learning I think it'd be a good practice to having the students participate in boardgames that have a thematic related to the subject that you want to teach.

Yes! When the teacher makes their lesson a game like who can answer first with the question or who can spell it right, the students become more eager to study because they want to win the games.

It is really effective. An activity or a game can boosts the children's eagerness to answer and they would study hard if there were a next game. The children would also remember the topics much longer than just discussing it because the game would bring a great impact for them and it would be memorable. But it would be effective depending on the game, if they like the game then it would but if they do not then things will not happen as planned. Just know the limitations, sometimes kids focus more on the game rather than the purpose of the game.

There has been many debates over the influence of video games on people's lives. There are some educational video games that can bring a benefit to children/students, as studies show.Playing this type of games can help in growing creative talents like drawing pictures, writing stories, improve problem-solving skills, enhance memory.Mastering these skills can bring many benefits to children/students in school and in the future profession as well.

It is an effective way to teach children because children can remember the lesson easier. They become more eager to get the answer that's why they study harder and try their best. Games motivate children because it is fun and enjoyable, unlike tests because tests are viewed as something stressful and scary.

Care must be exercised though because sometimes it may backfire. Children might end up remembering only the game and not the lesson that should be learned from the game. Importance must first be placed on the theory and concepts behind the lessons and games should only be used to reinforce the learnings, not to hog the spotlight.

For me , yes giving a game is fun and exciting so for me it is perfect to give a game when studying like giving a reward to make a student be motivated to learn

For me, yes. because they will be more responsible and disciplined. and they will be more physically active instead of just playing video games or surfing the internet.

The teacher's fundamental task is to get students engaged in learning activities that are likely to result in achieving the intended learning. I think that it is better if as a teacher, we incorporate fun activities to make our students more interested with our topic. But I think it's best if even before starting the games, students are aware of what should be the meaning of the game and how will it be useful with the certain topic for that day. As an educator, I also conduct games once in a while to let my students grasp more the learning I want to inculcate to them.

The use of games in teaching children is school is very effective and important for me. It makes learning effective and interesting for kids. Through games you make the children think and follow the mechanics of the game. It gives fun to their learning process. I believe that learning should be fun and interesting and not boring. Through games learning will be something to enjoy and not to endure.

Definitely its very effective. It is a good tool for the students to learn very well. I have tried using it before. It is like ice breaker. Students are too serious in their studies when I lecture. But when I teach through games, the students are very happy and very excited. So, I strongly believe in the power of games for the learning and education of the students.

Definitely, it's an effective and engaging way to teach children. Having fun way to learn helps in information retention with them, compared to being learned the lesson through traditional discussion.

Yes, very! I was having a hard time teaching my daughter basic math (arithmetics), because she wouldn't focus. I installed an amazing game on the iPad calls Math VS Zombies. She solves math questions to destroy the zombies, both of us are happy that way haha!

If used properly, games can be a motivating factor in learning. Yet, it's important to manage them properly, or it might create a excuse for students to spend extra time on gaming without studying.

I think games can be a very effective way of teaching. Children learn by observing their environment, and playing is a large part of that. There is a really good article by the New York Times that discusses this called "Taking Playtime Seriously".
Plus, children will be far more engaged in what is being taught if they are having fun learning it.
