Game Of Thrones - My current art project

I love the portraits!! Each of them are so distinct and individualized! I've trying my hand at human faces for months now, and still they end up looking like cartoons. You have painted each face with an expression. Hope you'll be putting up more of your works soon. :)

    Moonlit night

This is something I conjured out of my head. I was trying to paint a moonlit scene, some water and grass...and this is what I came up with. I can't say I'm too happy with it, the leaves are terrible:(, but I've managed to capture something of the 'mood' I guess. I can't yet do a moon well...

    My Art attempts

Thank you that means a lot! :) Yeah I do have others, I'm starting out with a lot of 'sunsets', since they happen to be my favorite part of the day. That apart I've been sketching a little too. I'm yet to try abstract concepts. Well, I'm an absolute beginner really, just started art on a whim...

    My Art attempts

Thank you so much! :) To be honest, I was afraid the monochrome effect would end up ruining it, thankfully it turned out OK. I'm still rather shaky with handling dry pastels but hopefully I'll be getting better with each work. I'm doing most of my practice from pictures online, once my hands get...

What is the most 'romantic' book you have read?

There are those stories that make you wish you were a part of it, if only to experience that kind of love/understanding/passion. Somehow I wouldn't consider Fifty Shades anywhere near this. I'm an old school romantic so I like things simple and sweet. :D I liked Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre...

    Favorite artists?

Most of his works are like this, in the sense, he painted scenes from his everyday surroundings, yet infusing them with some kind of 'other worldliness'. There are several paintings by him of the Liverpool docks, they are a testimony to how art takes the ordinary, even the ugly and makes them...

    The Human Imagination

Ok so this thought just occurred to me. I don't know how far this is philosophical but it certainly wouldn't fit the other topics. There's an eternal clash between imagination and reality. When we try to explain something intuitively... "maybe it happens because of such and such, I think", we...

Explain This and What Caused It. Read This!

This is rather interesting and intriguing! Maybe you had brought the keys with you after all, and handed them to your mom. Perhaps neither of you were aware of handing and receiving until the moment you saw it in her hands. I know this sounds silly, but there are times when, under stress or pure...

    Favorite artists?

I've only recently seen the works of John Atkinson Grimshaw, I suppose he's a Victorian artist. I haven't seen such realistically surreal paintings before this. I love the way he captures a mood. I'm attaching one of his paintings, titled "Mystery in the Moonlight"

    What character would you be?

Most books that I read now deal with very broken, fractured, incomplete lives. So I don't think I'd want to be part of those realities at all. My wishful fantasy is all with Harry Potter. I'd give anything to be any character in that book, even Argus Filch, the caretaker, only to experience that...

Book Quotes.. that simply make you wanna share them!!

Oh I have so many I wish I could share the entire lot! Most of them are from books by Mitch Albom, I find his words so very inspiring. I'll put some of my favorites here: 1. “It is because the human spirit knows, deep down, that all lives intersect. That death doesn't just take someone, it...

    Your Favorite Musicals/Plays?

Hands down Phantom of the Opera, it's one of the most moving and extravagant musicals that I've ever seen. We even had a production of it back in school. I also rather like the Broadway production of Wicked, the untold story of the Witches of Oz. It's an interesting perspective, adapted from...

    Is seeing really believing?

I agree with all of these replies. Perception is a peculiar thing, for what is actually a sphere appears to us a disc, what is at a distance, appears to be smaller than it actually is. The reality that we see around us is a very relative matter. Besides, our brain system does not allow the...

    Favorite Author of All Time

I love Jane Austen, her works are light yet meaningful. I like Hardy too (though many think that he's depressing, I like his way of story telling) and Dickens. From modern writers I like Khaled Hosseini, his stories are overpowering. There are some single works that I've really liked too, like...

What's a classic book (or author) that you can't stand?

I quite like classics actually. But if I had to choose, I'd say I would prefer never to read Herman Melville's Moby Dick, Finnegan's Wake by James Joyce, Crime and Punishment by Tolstoy.. These are either too convoluted or huge tomes of pages. Especially Tolstoy, it's hard finishing his novels...
