Life's Meaning

It seems to me that of all the animals roaming on this Earth, only humans are gifted with the mental capacities to build, destroy, ask and answer questions. We are the only one who could ask for the meaning of our own existence. Sadly, only a few find the real meaning to life...are you one of them?

What is life to you? :x

I would argue we are not the only creature capable of destruction, creation and contemplation. The only thing we can be certain of is humanity's endless hubris.

We are just animals aswell and 'along any timeline, your survival rate will fall to 0', so what ever we acheive it will all be lost in time in the end! so just enjoy yourself!

Peace

This is what a member of an internet group that I lead wrote about the meaning of love:

People all around the world have thought they have meaningless lives, they thought there was no purpose predisposed for them. That's a great way for falling into a serious depression.

The thing is, EVERYBODY has come into this world for a reason. Even if they were unwanted kids. The simple fact of being alive means that you had to be procreated, you grew up in your mother's wombhttp://authspot.com/thoughts/the-meaning-of-life-32/#, and you were born. That's the beginning of live.

The next step of life is to learn. To learn from the emotionshttp://authspot.com/thoughts/the-meaning-of-life-32/# we feel, to learn from the mistakes we make, to learn for everything we do right, to learn from what our senses let us perceive as reality, etc.

The only limit to our capability to learn is death. But that's no longer part of our lives! We come to this world to learn! Every single person is learning something, each second of their lives. They might not realize it though, since its their subconsciousness which is taking in the information we receive.
Life is something very valuable. It is something we were meant to enjoy.
So, nobody is useless. They just have to acknowledge all the information they're receiving all of the time and put their experiences into practice. Making the best of this limited amount of time we get on our planet.

now what makes us better than the animals??? oposable thumbs ?? we all fight for land and welth, the main thing we are different form animals is breeding, ours has no meaning , we're in the animal kingdom only the strongest have the right to mate.

If life had a meaning and we were to discover it, it would most likely be something epically disappointing, the anticlimax to end them all. And after that, what is the point? Everyone would have topped themselves within a week and the scattering few that remained would eat candy floss in a tree. "For that is the true meaning" said the bearded sky man "candy floss in a tree".

You reminded me of one of George Carlin's quotes about the meaning of life.

The planet will be here for a long, long, LONG time after we're gone, and it will heal itself, it will cleanse itself, 'cause that's what it does. It's a self-correcting system. The air and the water will recover, the earth will be renewed. And if it's true that plastic is not degradable, well, the planet will simply incorporate plastic into a new paradigm: the earth plus plastic. The earth doesn't share our prejudice toward plastic. Plastic came out of the earth. The earth probably sees plastic as just another one of its children. Could be the only reason the earth allowed us to be spawned from it in the first place. It wanted plastic for itself. Didn't know how to make it. Needed us. Could be the answer to our age-old egocentric philosophical question, "Why are we here?"

Plastic…asshole.

For me, life is the most significant thing humans possess.
Without it, you won't be able to experience all the world has to offer.
And I truly believe that we should value life more than anything else.
