i am watching you set up the boiling rig,
the evaporator, as i speak via electric typewriter,
as basic & out of date as making syrup:
syrup's up! drinking coffee made with sap
we become ecstatic, i then cold
whoo ha, eegods, watching leaves
blow across still unmelted snow
this march 18, the sap moon grows up
like foie gras (just kidding) our feet
are in puddles of water, next to ice
as we drink the sap tee-pee dreams tea
hurry, days sap, sun's going down
i keep thinking the smoke is a man
but i can hear the chainsawing & phil's
gone to pick up max & alyssa at
the albany bus depot of sleep soup
we make of boiling sap & carrots
