It is unbelievable that in the 1970s there were universities here that allow students to smoke inside the classroom while the session is going on. The reason is to give the students the freedom to seek concentration because smoking helps in that department. Maybe the society was very permissive in those days but I still cannot imagine that it can happen today and that it happened in those years. By the way, some of the college professors were also smoking while teaching.
 
I think that it's impossible for it to happen nowadays. It is, especially with the government's smoking ban on places like schools. Even though it gives concentration to one student, it is still not worth it as it nay damage his health, so as with the secondhand smokers.
 
When I was a student, there were teachers and professors who smoked. However, we never saw them smoking in the school/campus premises. Now I am a teacher, I do not smoke. There are some teahcers who smoke, however, our school has a no smooking inside school premises. I cannot imagine teachers or sudents smoking in school and campus area.
 
Smoking is just an selfish act in my opinion .I don't think I need to name all the scientific studies which show that even second hand smoke increases the chance if cancer and other complications .The idea of smoking in a calssrocl is absurd.
 
Smoking in public places is not allowed, let alone smoking inside the classroom. No smoking policy was made into law to protect non smokers from passive smoking, making children and the elder ones susceptible. There has been clear evidence that second hand smoke can cause lung cancer and other health problems related to inhaling nicotine from cigarettes.

If a person wants to take his smoke, he should do it outside, away from the non smokers or do his stuff at designated areas.
 
Smoking in the classroom would just be a huge distraction from paying attention in class. It would be disruptive to the students that don't smoke and an excuse to be to preoccupied to learn for the smoking students. Plus it would make everyone's clothes stink. Not to mention it is unhealthy for all.
 
I'm so grateful that doesn't happen now - or at least, it's not supposed to. Smoking should never be allowed in schools. In fact, smoking is prohibited within a certain perimeter (around 100 meters?) of the school. Thousands of studies have already proven the detrimental effect of smoking on health, nothing good will come out of exposing students to such a noxious substance.
 
Wow, I didn't know the smoking inside a room before is allowed, I can only imagine how the non smokers handle those situations, I mean that's just insane how can they allow something like that, I am just happy that it's prohibited right now.
 
It's a big no I think because smoking in the classroom can be dangerous because of secondhand which more dangerous than the smoker because when you inhale a smoke in a cigarette it can be toxic to your all doctors always said that, don't inhale smoke from a cigarette because its very dangerous its decrease your life-span also it harm your lungs as a person I don't smoke because I know how bad it is also there are so many bad benefits of it.

During that time when smoking was allowed inside the classroom, smoking was also allowed in the campus. But in the US smoking was not allowed inside the school and they are strict with that rule. My husband said that he got to know of that "no smoking" rule in American schools when he experienced it in one public grade school. The principal said that it is a mortal sin to smoke inside the campus because it can endanger the health of the students.
 
I am not a smoker, and therefore may not understand very well the need to smoke that may have other people, however I believe that both in a classroom and anywhere else should respect the right that all people have to breathe air, without cigarette smoke pollution and every teacher as a recognized authority in a classroom, should enforce that right.
 
Smoking should not be allowed inside the classroom. It will cause health issues. Second hand smoke causes lung cancer and bad for your heart. Just imagine the unpleasant smell inside the classroom. Clean air act makes it illegal anyways and should be enforce at all times.
 
I couldn't imagine how is thay possible to the universities. There could have some positive effects in mental health, to relieve stress form the lessons taken or could relax them from a very stressful lessons but we couldn't ignore the possible effects on everyones health inside the classroom. It could have some bad effects to the non-smokers and I couldn't imagine if this was happening today.
 
Yikes! I'm glad that's no longer happening today. I would have hated going to university if that had been the case. I hate the smell of secondhand smoke, not to mention the terrible effects it would have had on my lungs (I'm asthmatic). If people want to smoke, fine. But they should not drag non-smokers along with them in facing the consequences.
 
I dont think its a good idea for students to smoke in a classroom or even university campus as it attracts more people to do the same plus it increases the chances for cancer around its surroundings. I remember when i was in a high school most of the students used to smoke in the toilets and at the same time wash their face to avoid any issues of smoking smell. It is a bad habit to adopt and harmful to others around you. Some of the countries have banned smoking in public areas which is a good move to reduce the amount of smokers and have a pleasant air to breathe for other people.
 
It will never be a good idea for students to smoke inside the classroom. It's both disrespectful and an abuse to your health. I will never support it
 
It's not healthy to smoke in the classroom, mostly because other people have medical conditions that don't conform with them being passive smokers.
Smoking in a classroom is a bad idea, it is the same as drug abuse and may lead one to be an addict thus people tend to loose concentration in class, others even drop out of school because they will concentrate all the time on smoking.
Other people might join others might even be affected and learning will not be as effective as it was.
 
Smoking, either cigarettes or e-cigarettes, must be prohibited inside classrooms. It will not only cause distraction but also disturbance. You are not just abusing your health but your also causing pollution to others. There are designated areas for smoking installed because of its hazardous effects to people and the environment.

Smoking should not take place in public places.The smokers should respect other people's opinion and space.Learners should not be allowed to smoke in class,not even their tutors and lecturers.
 
Smoking inside or outside the classroom and school should be banned. It poisons the air we breathe in. It clogs our drain when the smokers fail to clean up their mess. It destroys your budget because buying cigars is another cost. Mostly, it kills someone. I believe that we should stop smoking to preserve the lives of those who are dear to us.
