Karl Marx wrote in the Communist Manifesto that "a spectre is haunting Europe." It should be noted that he wrote these words on the eve of revolutionary outbreaks that began in Italy and France in 1848 and engulfed much of the Continent. In the event no one has noticed here in America - the land of the free and Homeland of the brave - Europe is again in the midst of raging battles, threatening to spread.
